Getting Used to Your New Dentures

If you are getting dentures for the first time, you will need some time to adjust. This is particularly true if you have been living with missing teeth for some time. However, with some patience, you can learn to make your dentures a part of your life.

Your dentures may feel bulky until you get used to them. There may be some pain or pressure for a while, but if it persists, you need to see the dentist to have your dentures adjusted. After you receive your new dentures, your dentist may have you come in for another appointment to have them lined.

You may find eating with your dentures difficult for a while, It might help to cut your food into smaller pieces to make it easier to chew, or you can cut it into long strips can chew it on both sides of your mouth.

With your new dentures, pronouncing certain words may take some time. If some words are particularly difficult, you should practice speaking them; or you may just have to say them a little more slowly for a while.
